Road Closures for Ubersoca Jouvert
The Ministry of Communications and Works has announced temporary traffic diversions and road closures in Road Town for the Ubersoca Cruise Punk Rock Jouvert. Motorists should expect detours from both west and east approaches, restricted access at the roundabout, and limited use of Waterfront Drive until the procession passes DeCastro Street.
The Ministry of Communications and Works has issued a traffic advisory for Road Town ahead of the Ubersoca Cruise Punk Rock Jouvert procession, announcing a series of diversions and temporary road closures to accommodate the event. Traffic approaching from the west will be diverted via MacNamara, continuing to Wailing Road and Fort Charlotte before exiting onto Paul Wattley Road.
An alternate westbound option will route motorists along Porter Road to Titley Road, then onto Russell Hill and exiting onto Paul Wattley Drive. Motorists travelling from the east will be directed onto Station Avenue. From there, drivers heading west may turn left onto Pickering Road, while those proceeding east can turn right onto Huntums Ghut Road.
Drivers on Fishlock Road should note that only traffic coming from Flemming Street and traveling east will be permitted; these vehicles will be able to turn onto Market By-Pass and continue on the highway, with right turns allowed near the House of Assembly building. No traffic will be permitted to enter or exit at the roundabout for the duration of the procession.
The Ministry also advised that Lloyd Drive, Positive Action Drive, Waterfront Drive and Administration Drive will remain open until 1:00 p.m. In order to allow the banking community to leave safely, these roadways will be fully closed after 1:00 p.m. Access on Waterfront Drive will be restricted to taxi and tour operators returning to the Pier Park; full reopening of Waterfront Drive is expected once the Jouvert reaches DeCastro Street.
The Ministry apologised for any inconvenience caused by the arrangements. BVI residents and visitors should plan ahead: allow extra travel time, use the designated diversion routes, and follow directions from traffic officers and signage. Businesses in and around Road Town that rely on deliveries or customer access during the morning and early afternoon should consider rescheduling or arranging alternative drop-off locations.
Taxi drivers, tour operators and cruise passengers should note the limited Waterfront Drive access and coordinate pick-ups and drop-offs accordingly. The advisory was released by the Ministry of Communications and Works and reported by Virgin Islands News Online. Motorists are asked to monitor local media and official channels for any further updates or changes on the day of the event.
