The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority has announced that the Road Town Jetty Building will be temporarily closed from Sunday, 1 November through Thursday, 5 November to facilitate essential health, safety, and preventative maintenance works across the facility. According to port officials, the temporary shutdown is a precautionary measure designed to address identified operational concerns and ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for port staff, ferry passengers, and all commercial facility users.

During the five-day maintenance period, all international ferry arrivals and departures typically handled at Road Town will be redirected to the West End Ferry Terminal. Officials from His Majesty's Customs and the Immigration Department will be stationed at West End to process standard clearance procedures for all international cross-border traffic.

Arriving international travelers will be required to disembark at West End, complete standard immigration and customs entry procedures, and secure onward ground transportation across Tortola. For passengers arriving on the final scheduled ferry service of the day, a special arrangement has been put in place: travelers will clear customs and immigration at West End with their baggage before reboarding the vessel for onward maritime transport to Road Town, where they will disembark via the domestic side of the jetty.

Departing passengers scheduled to travel on international routes must bypass Road Town entirely and head directly to the West End Ferry Terminal to check in and complete departure formalities. The Ports Authority is advising all travelers to factor in extra transit time to accommodate the shift in departure location and potential traffic.

Port officials confirmed that they are actively coordinating with local ferry operators and relevant government agencies to ensure smooth logistical transitions and minimize travel disruptions. Operations at the Road Town Jetty Building are slated to resume on Friday, 6 November, pending successful completion of all safety inspections.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor official government and port communication channels for any operational updates.
