Sea Cows Bay Community Receives Boost with
Over 85 students in the Third District were equipped with essential school supplies at the annual Back-to-School Giveaway held in Sea Cows Bay on August 31, 2025. The event, organized by former Speaker Julian Willock and partners, also featured motivational talks, free haircuts, and entertainment, highlighting a strong community support for education.
The annual Third District Back-to-School Giveaway, a much-anticipated event in the Sea Cows Bay community, took place on Sunday, August 31, 2025, marking another successful year of supporting students' educational needs. Organized by former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Julian Willock, and the Third District Committee, in collaboration with Kishma P.
Forbes of Virgin Islands School and Office Supplies, the event saw the distribution of more than 85 backpacks filled with school supplies to local students. The giveaway was hosted at the Valerie O. Thomas Community Centre, where Deputy Premier Julian Fraser, the representative for District Three, praised the initiative's impact on the community's educational preparedness.
The event was also graced by the presence of Minister for Health and Social Development Vincent O. Wheatley and Minister for Communications and Works Kye M. Rymer, who commended the organizers for their commitment to the community. Support from local businesses significantly enhanced the giveaway, with contributions such as a laptop donation by No Limit Construction.
Attorney and motivational speaker Sonjah S. Smith inspired students to stay focused on their education, emphasizing the importance of academic success. The event also featured trivia contests for gas vouchers, music by Selector Taz, food from De La Santa Bakery and French Deli, and free haircuts sponsored by Quality Construction, making it an enjoyable day for families and students alike.
Julian Willock expressed his gratitude for the turnout and the support from parents and corporate sponsors, including Delta Petroleum, Caribbean Insurance Limited, Little Dix Bay Hotel, and the BVI Ports Authority, among others. The annual giveaway not only helps ease the financial burden of back-to-school preparations for families but also fosters a sense of community and support for the educational advancement of the district's youth.
