Search Underway for Missing Free Bottom Man
Community volunteers and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force are searching for 37-year-old Mozart “Dexter” Peters, last seen in the Free Bottom area. A community-led search begins at 4 p.m. today, August 19, and anyone with information is urged to contact 311 or the nearest police station.
Residents and police have launched a coordinated effort to find Mozart Peters, also known as “Dexter,” who was reported missing after last being seen in the Free Bottom area. The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has issued a missing-person alert and the local group Residents for a Better District Six has called on the community to join a search beginning at 4 p.m. today, August 19.
Peters is described as approximately five feet, five inches tall, dark-skinned and of slim build. When he was last seen he was reportedly wearing a white vest and light-blue underpants, with no shoes. His family has expressed deep concern for his welfare and has asked the public for assistance in locating him.
The community search is intended to supplement official police efforts and to increase the chances of locating Peters quickly. Organisers ask volunteers to gather at the agreed meeting point in Free Bottom ahead of the 4 p.m. start; volunteers should check with Residents for a Better District Six or local community leaders for the exact assembly location and assignments.
The RVIPF has asked anyone with information about Peters’ whereabouts to contact 311, their nearest police station, or any member of the force. Residents with private security or doorbell camera footage, vehicle dashcams, or other potential sightings in the area over the past 24–48 hours are asked to review recordings and share any relevant clips with police.
Volunteers are encouraged to prioritise safety while searching: work in pairs or groups, wear appropriate clothing and footwear, bring water and a charged phone, and follow instructions from police and search coordinators. Those unfamiliar with organised searches should report sightings or tips to police rather than conducting independent searches in hazardous or remote areas.
Community members are urged to share this information and to come forward with any leads, no matter how small they may seem. The combined efforts of neighbours and law enforcement aim to bring Peters home safely to his worried family. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
