Seuffer, Lindsay Win Carrot Bay 10K
A total of 35 runners took to the roads on Tortola's western end for the Carrot Bay 10K and 5K races. Seuffer captured top honors in the men's 10K division, while Katrina Lindsay dominated the women's field. Participants are now preparing for the next leg of the three-race series scheduled for Beef Island.
A field of 35 local runners tackled the scenic western roads of Tortola during the Carrot Bay 10K and 5K road races. Starting from the Carrot Bay festival grounds, competitors navigated the challenging course out toward Smugglers Cove before looping back to cross the finish line in Carrot Bay.
In the men's 10K division, Seuffer delivered a strong performance to claim the overall victory, crossing the line in a time of 49 minutes, 3.04 seconds. Experienced distance runner Mark Stephenson secured second place with a time of 51:45.38, while Rashad Boyce rounded out the podium positions in third place, finishing in 56:12.68.
The women's 10K race saw a commanding display from Katrina Lindsay, who led comfortably throughout the route to take the victory in 52 minutes, 33.67 seconds. Sarah Latham claimed the runner-up spot with a time of 58:49.08, followed by Rosmond Johnson, who secured third place by finishing in 1:01:05.20.
Alongside the featured 10K event, participants also took part in a brisk 5K run. Charlie Potgieter showcased fine form to capture the overall 5K win, stopping the clock at 23 minutes, 10 seconds. In the female 5K category, Shantae Matthew was the first woman to cross the finish line, capping off an energetic morning of competition.
The Carrot Bay race forms part of a popular three-race series that continues to encourage distance running and community fitness across the Territory. Athletes will now shift their focus to the upcoming Beef Island 10K, which is scheduled to serve as the next fixture in the local road racing calendar.
