Fear once again gripped the Baugher’s Bay community late on Tuesday, October 7, when a barrage of gunfire shattered the night and sent residents scrambling for cover. Eyewitnesses told JTV News that at approximately 11:35 p.m. at least six shots were fired in the area between ZBVI and Lyndon’s Bar.
Several people reported seeing four heavily masked men flee the scene on two motorcycles moments after the shooting. Officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) responded quickly and are believed to have recovered spent shells from the location. Residents described tense scenes inside their homes as families lay flat on floors and stayed quiet for fear that stray bullets might penetrate walls. “I didn’t sleep last night.
Every time I closed my eyes, I jumped up in fear. If the wind shakes anything and makes a sound, I panic. No one is safe—no one,” one distraught resident told JTV News. The RVIPF has not yet issued a public statement about the shooting.
