David of Purcell Methodist Church was crowned the first-ever Virtuous Crown Queen after earning the highest overall points for her portrayal of Miriam at the inaugural Virtuous Crowns event on Saturday, November 1, 2025. David, who portrayed the biblical figure Miriam, earned the highest overall score and the coveted crown. According to Jahphix Television (JTV), her portrayal of Miriam — a woman of courage, faith and humility — captivated both judges and audience members and helped secure her top placement.
The road to the crown was not without difficulty. JTV reported that David fell ill just days before the show and was hospitalised with a high fever, cold symptoms and breathing difficulties related to her asthma. In an interview published by JTV, David said she turned to prayer during that difficult time and was grateful God saw her through to the event.
David also expressed deep gratitude to her Purcell Methodist Church family, her relatives, her “dash of spice” Kareem Nelson Hull, her chaperone Janice Stoutt, and friends and supporters who encouraged her throughout the preparation and performance, JTV reported. She thanked her fellow ambassadors for their friendship and shared faith.
The programme featured four women ambassadors representing their congregations and the Methodist Circuit. Phillipa Barry of Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church presented Hannah and finished as runner-up to David. Messena Vanterpool Pompey of East End Methodist Church portrayed Deborah, while Mrs.
Stoutt of Road Town Methodist Church depicted Mary, the mother of Jesus. Organisers described each presentation as powerful and inspiring, highlighting the ambassadors’ faith and creativity. Christopher told our newsroom that “Virtuous Crowns was nothing short of inspiring,” noting the joy, excitement and spiritual energy in the room as congregations came together to glorify God.
The organising committee echoed that sentiment in comments carried by JTV, calling the event “a resounding success — to God be all the glory!” and thanking the committee for their hard work, dedication and prayerful commitment. The stated purpose of Virtuous Crowns was to draw souls closer to Christ and to show that learning about God’s Word can be both fun and creative.
Organisers from both VINO and JTV said the evening surpassed expectations, serving as both community engagement and a reminder of the joy found in serving and learning about Christ. Given the overwhelming response and positive impact across congregations and the wider community, organisers are prayerfully considering making Virtuous Crowns an annual event.
