INVITATION, REJECTION, AND THE OUTCOME🌸 💥 In the building of the kingdom of the BVI, there's a parallel story I find quite interesting. It's a parable in the Book of Matthew, chapter 22. Jesus described the kingdom of heaven as like a father making a wedding feast for his son, and inviting whom he would have at the gathering. 💥 Naturally, the invited guests would be those of the king's class: the nobility, aristocrats and dignitaries; the elite. 💥 But when they got the invitation they "made light of it", claiming they had other important matters to deal with.

Others turned on the messengers who were sent to call them, and treated them badly. The king got angry and retaliated. 💥 Meanwhile, everything was set for the wedding feast. So the king then send out another invitation by his servants, telling them to go bring anyone they could find, both bad and good.

The king provided the wedding garment so there was no excuse about not having the proper attire. 💥 But one of the guests refused to put on the wedding garment and was easily spotted. The king ordered his servants to bind him hand and foot and throw him out. The story ended at verse 14 with the popular quotation: "Many are called, but few are chosen." 💥 In BVI politics, many are called at election time.

However, only a few will be chosen at the polls. But if we check the story above, we see that who were at the first instance invited, the elite and the entitled had very little interest in accommodating the king. They took the matter lightly and were even abusive to the king's subjects. 💥 Out of those who were allowed at the feast, because there was a need for them, among them was found the kind that would not adhere to the dress code.

They get the opportunity to sit at the table but they don't want to comply with the required standard. So they get thrown out. 💥 The outcome is: all who think that they can do as they like, behave anyhow, answer questions with insults, act like the place is their personal property will be shown the door, rather unceremoniously.

This is the inevitable outcome for those who belittle the office of public leadership. 💥 There is a kingdom/nation to be built. It must be build by order and not confusion. It must be built on ethics and standards that can pass the scrutiny of the king with a capital K. The call is not just to party, but to fulfill a role with discipline.
