Orlando Smith Hospital on Tortola, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The crash reportedly occurred after a staff farewell gathering at Necker Island’s Great House. Witnesses said Somdaka lost control of the buggy while driving down a steep hill, leading to the fatal crash. Despite immediate CPR efforts by island medics and rapid transport to Tortola, Somdaka could not be saved.
Virgin Limited Edition, the management company for Necker Island, expressed devastation over the loss of a "hugely talented and exceptional member of the Necker Island family." The company assured that the wellbeing of Somdaka's family, friends, and the entire team remains a top priority during this difficult time.
Sir Richard Branson, the owner of the 74-acre luxury island, was reportedly not present at the time of the incident. However, he has been in contact with Somdaka’s family and the staff, expressing his condolences and support.
