According to reports from The Irish Sun, the accident occurred shortly after Somdaka attended a farewell party at the Great House for guests departing the island. It is understood that he was among several staff members invited to the celebration. Leaving the event before midnight in one of the island's electric buggies, Somdaka tragically veered off the road while navigating a steep hill, resulting in severe head injuries.
First responders found Somdaka unconscious at the scene. Despite immediate efforts by the island's medical personnel and additional support rushed from the nearby Moskito Island, Somdaka was transported by boat to Peebles Hospital on Tortola, where he was later pronounced dead.
