Tropical Wave Brings Showers Across Virgin Islands

Residents and mariners can anticipate up to a 70 percent chance of morning precipitation alongside moderate seas. Conditions are expected to ease somewhat overnight with lower chances of showers.
Lingering moisture and atmospheric instability associated with the recent passage of a tropical wave will produce periods of cloudiness and scattered rainfall across the British Virgin Islands today. According to the morning forecast issued by forecaster Trecy Spencer-Lake of the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services and shared by the Department of Disaster Management, the territory will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day.
Forecasters have noted a 70 percent, or high, chance of early morning showers, which could create damp roadways and minor travel slowdowns for early commuters across the islands. Conditions are anticipated to improve gradually into the evening hours. The weather tonight is projected to be partly cloudy with shower activity tapering off to a 40 percent, or moderate, chance of overnight precipitation.
Winds across the Virgin Islands are forecast to blow from the east-southeast at speeds between 7 and 16 mph, or 11 to 26 km/h. Marine conditions remain relatively manageable for boaters and fishers, with open waters expected to produce seas between 3 and 5 feet, or 0.9 to 1.5 meters.
Daylight hours will conclude with sunset this evening at 6:29 p.m., followed by sunrise tomorrow morning at 6:05 a.m. Residents, motorists, and operators of small craft are encouraged to monitor local weather developments and exercise routine caution during periods of reduced visibility or wet road conditions.
