USVI Assistant Principal Arrested Over Abuse
An assistant principal at Gomez Elementary in the US Virgin Islands was arrested after a former student reported repeated sexual abuse dating to the 2019–2020 school year. The arrest follows a November 19, 2025 warrant and an investigation led by the VIPD in coordination with the Department of Justice and Department of Education.
An assistant principal at Gomez Elementary in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been arrested on multiple charges after a former student disclosed repeated sexual abuse, authorities said. The arrest followed a warrant issued November 19, 2025, after the Virgin Islands Police Department received a detailed report from the victim earlier this year.
According to the VIPD synopsis, the child first told a school nurse on August 22, 2025, that the assistant principal removed him from class, brought him to his office and "forced him to perform sexual activities." The victim said the abuse occurred "multiple times" during the 2019–2020 school year and stopped only when he left Gomez Elementary.
Police Commissioner Mario Brooks confirmed the arrest, saying it was the result of intensive collaboration between the VIPD, the Department of Justice and the Department of Education. "So he’s been arrested. He’s in custody at this time," Brooks said. He described the alleged conduct as unacceptable and said the department treats offenders in these cases as "trained criminals." The accused, identified in earlier reporting as a former assistant principal, faces a slate of charges including first-degree aggravated rape, second-degree aggravated rape, first-degree unlawful sexual contact, aggravated child abuse and child abuse, all related to the alleged assault of the minor at Gomez Elementary.
He was booked and processed and then turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights hearing scheduled for Monday, November 24. Friday’s arrest follows reporting in September 2025 that the educator had been under investigation for similar allegations. Sources said the now-high-school-aged victim later provided additional details that prompted authorities to reopen the case.
That earlier reporting also noted a prior suspension over alleged sexual harassment of a male colleague; a Division of Personnel investigation previously found no wrongdoing and the educator was reinstated. The Department of Education said it was "fully cooperating with the relevant authorities" and noted internal personnel changes to support operational integrity, while emphasizing privacy rights during the ongoing review.
The investigation is being handled by VIPD’s Domestic Violence & Special Victims Unit.
