USVI Woman Arrested After Stabbing Partner
A woman in the United States Virgin Islands has been arrested and charged after allegedly stabbing her partner in the leg over accusations of infidelity. A domestic dispute in the neighbouring United States Virgin Islands turned violent earlier this week, resulting in the arrest of a woman accused of stabbing her partner during a confrontation over alleged infidelity. Law enforcement officers were dispatched on Tuesday afternoon following reports of a stabbing victim seeking medical care at the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center on St.
Upon arrival, officers interviewed the injured man, who was receiving treatment for a puncture wound to his left thigh. According to the victim's account to police, the altercation began when he returned home during his scheduled lunch break. He stated that his girlfriend, identified as Asly Olivo, confronted him at the door while shouting accusations that he was being unfaithful.
As he continued walking into the residence, Olivo allegedly retrieved a knife from the kitchen area and stabbed him in the leg. Following the attack, the injured man fled the home and returned to his jobsite. A coworker noticed the injury and initially questioned him before realizing the gravity of the wound.
The coworker promptly alerted the police and transported the wounded man to the local clinic for urgent medical treatment. During police questioning, the coworker also noted that this may not have been an isolated incident, stating that he had previously observed unexplained bruises on the victim.
Olivo subsequently arrived at the health clinic asking to see her partner, where officers on the scene placed her under arrest. She has been charged with third-degree assault, simple assault and battery—both designated as crimes of domestic violence—as well as carrying or using dangerous weapons.
During her advice-of-rights hearing on Wednesday, Magistrate Simone VanHolten-Turnbull found probable cause to uphold all charges. Bail was set at $15,000, with Olivo permitted to post 11 percent in cash with the remainder as an unsecured bond. Under the release conditions, she is required to vacate the shared residence, report twice weekly to the Leander Jurgen Command, and return to court on September 18.
