Two full pallets containing branded merchandise, student training materials, and promotional items have officially landed in the Territory following months of unexpected procurement setbacks.
The arrival marks a significant milestone for the Virgin Islands Icon Awards organising committee, which had to overcome major logistical hurdles. According to the team, a third-party supplier originally contracted to manufacture, procure, and ship the items allegedly misused the allocated project funds.
Event organisers only discovered that the cargo would not arrive mere days before the 2025 awards showcase took place. Faced with the shortfall, the organising committee undertook the task of re-sourcing, purchasing, and shipping the entire inventory themselves to ensure all commitments to patrons and students were fulfilled.
In a recent public statement, the team shared their excitement at the shipment's arrival, noting that the long journey to secure the items is finally concluding. Among the imported goods are specialized backpacks and class kits prepared for the 2025 VIconic Training Academy cohort, as well as branded 4-in-1 tumblers and swag bags reserved for show attendees.
The committee highlighted the importance of delivering these tools to the students and thanked the broader community for their continued understanding and patience. The organisation also expressed sincere gratitude to local customs personnel, freight forwarders, shipping handlers, and the Ministry of Finance for facilitating the clearance process to ensure the cargo reached the Virgin Islands safely.
While exact collection times and pickup locations have not yet been finalised, the organising team stated that full distribution details will be shared with the public shortly as they prepare to hand out the items this month.
