VI Mourns Collingston George
Premier Wheatley paid tribute to Collingston George, praising his leadership as chairman of Prospect Reef Management Company, his support for local businesses, and his work in agriculture. Premier Wheatley has paid public tribute to Collingston George following his passing, describing him as “a builder” whose influence in business, community and agriculture helped shape the Virgin Islands. In a statement shared on Facebook, the Premier highlighted Mr George’s leadership as Chairman of the Board of Prospect Reef Management Company and his wider contributions to local commerce. “As Chairman of the Board of Prospect Reef Management Company he brought vision, integrity, and commitment to revitalising one of the Territory’s premier hospitality and business landmarks,” Premier Wheatley said.
He added that Mr George’s leadership extended far beyond the boardroom: “He was a mentor, an advocate for local enterprises, and a quiet force driving the growth of commerce in the Virgin Islands.” The Premier also noted Mr George’s role in agriculture, calling him “a prolific farmer.” “His agricultural achievements came to maturity at a time when the world was most concerned about food security, and he did his part for the Virgin Islands.
We thank him for putting his hand to the plow and reaping so that our nation could be fed,” Premier Wheatley said, underlining the practical importance of local food production for residents. Premier Wheatley extended heartfelt condolences to Mr George’s wife and children on behalf of the Government and the people of the Virgin Islands.
