Vicctf launches territory-wide stakeholder consultations ahead of
The Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund (VICCTF) has announced a series of territory-wide stakeholder consultations from July 20–24, 2026 to prepare organisations for its first Call for Proposals (CFP 2026-01), which is expected to open in August–September 2026. The Trust, which opened its Secretariat in February 2026 and was formally launched internationally on April 21, 2026, will offer grants under two windows: Community Resilience and Capacity-Building and Climate-Smart Education. Residents and organisations across the BVI are encouraged to register at www.vicctf.org and attend a session to learn about governance, the funding process and how to prepare competitive proposals; note that there are slight differences in reported schedules for Jost van Dyke and Virgin Gorda between sources, so participants should confirm dates when registering.
The Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund (VICCTF) has begun territory-wide stakeholder consultations as it prepares to launch its first Call for Proposals, CFP 2026-01. The Trust announced the consultation series in a July 14 press release, with sessions running from July 20 to 24, 2026 designed to help eligible organisations understand the Fund, prepare competitive proposals and provide input on local climate priorities.
The consultations will introduce participants to the Trust’s governance, the funding process and practical tips for developing and submitting proposals once applications open. The inaugural funding round will make grants available through two windows: Window 1a — Community Resilience, and Window 1b — Capacity-Building and Climate-Smart Education, the VICCTF said in the release (VICCTF/VINO).
VICCTF Chief Executive Officer Chamberlain Emmanuel said the consultations are a key step in moving from establishing the Trust to putting climate finance “directly into the hands of the organisations doing the work on the ground.” He urged eligible groups across the Territory to learn how the fund can support their communities (VICCTF/VINO).
The Trust traces its legal origin to the Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund Act, 2015. Administratively, the VICCTF opened its Secretariat in February 2026 and was formally launched on the international stage on April 21, 2026 at the Global Sustainable Islands Summit in Gran Canaria, Spain, according to the Trust’s recent communications (VICCTF/Guavaberry).
In-person consultation sessions are scheduled around the BVI. According to the Trust’s press release, the sessions are: Tortola — July 20 at 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, and July 21 at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM (BVI Finance Conference Room, Cutlass Tower); Anegada — July 22 at 10:00 AM (Emile Dunlop Community Centre); Jost van Dyke — July 23 at 10:00 AM (Primary School, New Building); and Virgin Gorda — July 23 at 5:00 PM (Flax Administration Building conference room) (VICCTF/VINO).
A Guavaberry update published the same day repeats the Tortola and Anegada sessions and the A.M. online session, but lists the Jost van Dyke and Virgin Gorda consultations on July 24 (Jost van Dyke at 10:00 AM and Virgin Gorda at 4:00 PM) rather than July 23; it therefore advises registrants that additional details and logistics will be shared with those who register (Guavaberry).
An online session for those unable to attend in person is set for July 24 at 10:00 AM via Zoom (VICCTF/VINO; Guavaberry). The consultations are intended for government agencies, statutory bodies, private sector entities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), faith-based organisations (FBOs) and other groups eligible to apply for CFP 2026-01.
Organisations are asked to register in advance and send an assigned representative so they can ask questions specific to their community’s needs. Organisations and residents interested in registering or seeking confirmation of session times should visit www.vicctf.org for the latest details.
The Trust has indicated CFP 2026-01 applications are expected to open in August–September 2026 (Guavaberry), giving registered participants time to use the consultations to strengthen proposals and align projects with Territory-wide climate priorities.
