The Department of Waste Management (DWM) has announced new Sunday operating hours for the Virgin Gorda dumpsite: 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, starting Sunday, December 7, 2025, until further notice. The department cautioned residents and businesses not to bring waste during heavy rains or when terrain prevents safe access and said personnel will be on-site to ensure waste is placed in designated areas.
The Department of Waste Management (DWM) issued a bulletin on Friday, December 5, 2025, advising the Virgin Gorda community of a change to the local dumpsite’s operating hours. Beginning Sunday, December 7, 2025, the facility will be open only on Sundays from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, the department said.
The new schedule will remain in effect until further notice. DWM specifically warned individuals and businesses who take waste directly to the site to avoid doing so during periods of heavy rain or when the terrain is unstable and prevents safe access to the dumping area. The department said personnel will be on-site during operating hours to ensure that garbage is deposited only in designated areas.
The bulletin did not give a reason for the change in hours. Residents and business owners on Virgin Gorda should plan accordingly: trips to the dumpsite must now be made during the four-hour window on Sundays, and attempts to access the site outside those hours may not be possible.
