Virgin Islands Achieves Record Success in 2025
Virgin Islands students have showcased exceptional performance in the 2025 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, achieving a 100 percent pass rate in eight subjects and surpassing regional averages in key areas such as English and Mathematics.
The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports has proudly announced the outstanding results of the 2025 Caribbean Examinations Council Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations. A total of 412 students from the Virgin Islands participated in the June examinations, marking a significant achievement with record results in several subjects and an overall increase in student participation.
According to the ministry's report, students achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate in eight subjects, including Agricultural Science, Economics, French, Music, Principles of Accounts, Physical Education and Sport, Food, Nutrition and Health Technical, and Family and Resource Management Technical.
Additionally, seven other subjects saw pass rates ranging from 90 to 99 percent, with notable performances in Biology, English A, and Information Technology. The achievements didn't stop there, as eight more subjects recorded pass rates between 80 and 89 percent, including Caribbean History, Chemistry, and Physics.
A highlight of the results was the exceptional performance in English A, where Virgin Islands students secured a 97.63 percent pass rate, an increase from previous years and well above the regional average. This marks the third consecutive year the territory's students have outperformed their regional counterparts in this subject.
Furthermore, in Mathematics, the territory achieved a 52.61 percent pass rate, significantly higher than the regional average and indicating a positive trend over the past three years. The ministry also took the opportunity to recognize the top performers of this year's examinations, with students from the BVI Seventh-day Adventist School and St.
George’s School leading with the highest number of Grade I passes. This exceptional performance underscores the dedication and hard work of both students and educators in the territory. Lavity Stoutt Community College was highlighted as a contributing factor to the success, allowing eleventh graders to participate in the examinations and gain early access to tertiary education.
Officials, including Chief Education Officer Orlandette R. Crabbe and Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Sharie B. de Castro, praised the perseverance and discipline of students, as well as the unwavering dedication of teachers and principals. They attributed the remarkable results to the collective effort of the entire education community and reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining these high standards of academic excellence in the future.
The Virgin Islands' achievement in the 2025 CSEC examinations is not only a testament to academic success but also a reflection of the strength and resilience of its educational system, promising a bright future for its students.
