Virgin Islands Students Excel in Mathematics, Surpassing
The Virgin Islands has seen remarkable improvement in Mathematics achievement, with pass rates climbing to 52%, nearly 15% higher than the regional average. This success, highlighted during the Professional Day for teachers, underscores the efficacy of educators' efforts and the importance of maintaining high professional standards.
In a significant academic achievement, the Virgin Islands (VI) has outperformed regional averages in Mathematics, with a pass rate that now stands at 52%. This revelation was made by Chief Education Officer Mrs. Crabbe during the Professional Day event for teachers, held at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on August 25, 2025.
This achievement marks a 6% increase in the Mathematics pass rate for VI students, placing them nearly 15% above their counterparts across the region. The educational strides in the VI do not stop with Mathematics. Crabbe also shared that there has been a notable increase in student registration for both the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).
Highlighting the breadth of academic success, she noted a 100% pass rate in eight subjects, along with a 90% to 99% pass rate in seven others, including key areas such as Information Technology, English A, and Integrated Science. "These gains are evidence that the hard work of our educators is bearing fruit," Mrs.
Crabbe stated, emphasizing the collective effort required to achieve such results. She heralded the progress not just as a victory for today, but as a stepping stone towards the future, reminding those present of the ongoing work necessary to ensure students can thrive.
