Virgin Islands Students Shine in Caribbean Examinations
Three exceptional students have been heralded as the top achievers in the Virgin Islands for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examinations in June 2025. Jene Juliet Melody Barnwell leads the trio with impressive results, closely followed by Nickalah Serrah Tyson and Keischel Ruth Abad Aquino.
In a significant announcement that underscores the academic prowess within the Virgin Islands, the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports has named three students as the top performers for the June 2025 Caribbean Examinations Council Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.
Jene Juliet Melody Barnwell, a student at the BVI Seventh-day Adventist School, has emerged as the top performer, excelling in 10 subjects with an outstanding 8 Grade I results. Nickalah Serrah Tyson, Barnwell's classmate, secured the second position by passing 9 subjects, also achieving 8 Grade I results.
George's School claimed the third spot with 8 subjects and the same number of Grade I results. The Caribbean Examinations Council's grading system, which emphasizes Grade I passes, was utilized to determine these rankings. The achievements of Barnwell and Tyson, who were also recognized as their school’s valedictorian and salutatorian earlier this year, reflect the strong support system provided by family, teachers, and peers.
Aquino attributes her success to the unwavering dedication from her school and home. The Ministry's announcement highlights the significance of these achievements, showcasing the potential and discipline of Virgin Islands' youth and setting a commendable example for those preparing for future examinations.
Crabbe and Minister for Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports Sharie B. de Castro praised the students for their hard work and dedication. Crabbe emphasized that these accomplishments are a testament to what can be achieved with perseverance, discipline, and the right support. Meanwhile, de Castro highlighted the results as a reflection of the strength of the territory's schools and the dedication of its teachers, congratulating the students and their families on their remarkable achievements.
