Virtuous Women Pageant-Style Showcase
Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church will host a pageant-style showcase at 6:00 PM featuring four local women portraying biblical figures to encourage Bible study and family-friendly fellowship. Organisers say the event is designed to be entertaining, educational and rooted in the Methodist community.
Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church will stage a pageant-like showcase at 6:00 PM that brings to life the stories of notable women from the Bible, organisers say. Christopher, chairperson of the event, described the evening as an opportunity to learn more about Scripture "and have fun doing it." "It's going to take the form of a pageant, but it's not a pageant," she said. "We'll have four women vying for a crown, and these women will be taking the women characters from the Bible and really personifying that character throughout the entire showcase." Dr Nikki Rubaine-Connell, the ambassador coordinator, confirmed that four local ambassadors will portray the biblical figures.
Mrs Phillipa Barry will represent Hannah, Mrs Messena Vanterpool-Pompey will portray Deborah, Ms Tammi T. David will take the role of Miriam, and Mrs Portia S. Stout will depict Mary, the mother of Jesus. "These women are going to be giving you a representation of their inspiring woman from the Bible, through costumes, storytelling, talent, and poise," Dr Rubaine-Connell said.
The programme is structured to include a character introduction, a talent segment tied to the character, a character-wear showcase and a question-and-answer session. Talent presentations must relate to the chosen biblical figure, and costume inspiration has been framed as an "elegant interpretation of what your character would wear to dinner with our Lord and Saviour," organisers explained.
Organisers emphasise that the event is family-friendly and rooted in Christian teaching, proudly representing the Methodist community on Tortola. Christopher said she hopes attendees will leave with renewed interest in reading and studying the Bible: "We hope for people to look at, just learning more of the Bible, learning more about these females of the Bible, and finding different ways to really spread the word of God, and bringing souls closer to Christ." The showcase offers BVI residents an accessible way to engage with biblical stories through performance and creativity.
