Wheatley Speaks On Rising Fuel Costs
During the last sitting of the House of Assembly, I contributed to the debate in support of the resolution addressing electricity and rising fuel costs in the BVI. I highlighted that energy is not an easy issue to address, but it is a necessary conversation that the Government must continue to take forward in the best interest of the Territory and its people.
These challenges are part of a wider global crisis. Rising temperatures and the effects of climate change have increased the demand for air conditioning and, consequently, energy consumption. At the same time, ongoing conflicts in the Middle East continue to affect global fuel supplies and contribute to fluctuating energy prices.
